You really can visit South Beach, Florida and not have to spend your life-savings to do it if you are creative. There are a variety of hostels available. Here are a few accommodation suggestions:

Ø      The Miami Beach International Travelers Hostel is located in the Art Deco district.

Ø      The Island House South Beach is located only one block from the ocean.

Ø      Jazz on South Beach is a backpacker’s hostel.

Ø      The Tropics Hotel and Hostel is also in the Art Deco district and very close to the beach. It has a swimming pool as well.

Ø      Clay Hotel and Hostel is another cheap place to crash while visiting South Beach.

Ø      The South Beach Hostel is the newest hostel in South Beach.

Ø      AAE Miami Beach Lombardy Hotel offers budget rates for Hostel travelers in a pricey neighborhood.

Traveling on a budget can be an adventure and, especially for young people, sometimes it is the only possible way to travel. It’s either travel cheap or don’t go at all. You can see by the list above that you can find sleeping accommodations that are very reasonable. The fact is you can also eat pretty reasonably, as well. Here are a few suggestions:

Ø      Big Pink: This is a Day-Glo diner that's famous for its satisfying TV dinners served on vintage trays at cafeteria-style tables. The huge menu offers burgers, salads, and desserts like red velvet cake.

Ø      David’s Cafe II: David’s is a Cuban restaurant and there is also a take-out window. They serve some great hearty sandwiches and coffee among other things.

Ø      Miss Yip Chinese Cafe: They serve old world fare with a twist and at very reasonable prices.

Besides being able to find reasonably prices sleeping accommodations and meals that are both hearty and filling for not a lot of money, you can also see the sites on a budget, as well, in South Beach. Try visiting these spots, enjoying yourself, and saving some money in the process:

Ø      The Holocaust Memorial: The memorial is located on Meridian Avenue. The cost is a two-dollar donation. A visit to The Holocaust memorial is a sobering experience and one that you should not miss when vacationing in South Beach. It is an acknowledgment of the large number of Holocaust survivors who chose to make Miami Beach their home. There is an enormous cast-bronze hand that reached upward and is surrounded by black granite panels where the names of the victims are etched.

Ø      Lincoln Road Mall: Window shopping doesn’t cost anything. Just looking in the windows of this trendy upper-end mall is fun and you can grab a cup of coffee and do some serious people watching. You never know who you might see.

Ø      The Wolfsonian: There is a $7 admission fee but it is free on Fridays from 6-9PM. It is located on Washington Avenue. The Wolfsonian is housed in an huge old Mediterranean revival building and holds so many treasures that are well worth your time to see.
